Bret Michaels Resumes Tour
Bret Michaels is wasting no time getting his solo tour back on track. After undergoing an emergency appendectomy and suffering a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage last year the singer is gearing up to make his return again this year in 2012.
The Poison frontman and reality star made the announcement in a post on his Facebook page, declaring that the May 28 show at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi in Mississippi, would mark his official comeback.
On April 12 Bret Michaels was forced to undergo an emergency appendectomy. Just 10 days later, while at home recovering from the operation, he suffered a brain hemorrhage he explained “sounded like a handgun, like it literally popped, according to People magazine. "It made my mind go almost blank. My neck tensed up. I couldn’t move my head at all.”
Doctors diagnosed the singer with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which the Associated Press explains “causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain.”
Bret Michaels spent 10 days in the ICU and then entered a rehabilitation facility for physical therapy.
According to his Facebook post, the singer is preparing to meet the rigorous demands of his touring schedule by increasing his rehabilitation sessions to twice a day.
After playing Biloxi, Miss., Bret Michaels has a number of U.S. solo dates lined up followed by a tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd that kicks off June 10 at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Fla. Additional solo dates are booked through October. Shows that were postponed because of his medical emergencies are currently being rescheduled.
The Facebook post also noted that Bret Michaels, who is one of the last stars left standing on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” hopes to make it to the reality show’s May 23 finale in New York.
Last week the rocker appeared on the cover of People magazine with a story that featured his first interview since suffering the brain hemorrhage. To check out his first televised appearance since his hospital stay, check out “The Oprah Winfrey Show“ May 19. The singer’s sixth full-length solo album, Custom Built, is set for release June 8.
